Gameweek 2 gave our sites a chance to improve on last weeks predictions with knowledge of the majority of the teams first week line-ups and that’s what we saw with all 6 of our sites improving their prediction %.
FPLTIPZ came out on top this week after being 2nd best the previous week. FPLTIPZ interestingly uses twenty different sources with each covering the premier league club they follow as a fan. It’s looking like this close association and knowledge is helping it to beat out the competition.
Last week we did a poll on twitter asking who people thought would be the best at predicting line-ups.
Interestingly Whoscored came joint top of the poll but currently have the worst overall success rate out of everyone.
After two weeks it’s a little to early read too much into our results but it’s clear to see certain sites seem to have an edge over others so far.
The most difficult line-up to predict went to Fulham after they made a few changes to their week 1 line up and only 2 out of 6 correctly predicting Areola coming into goal and with 8/11 being the best effort overall.
There were a few Premier League teams that look like they have found their preferred 11 already and which all our sites largely predicted correctly.
Everton have started the season well and with their new midfield of Gomes, Doucoure, Allan and James Rodriguez looking strong i’d expect they won’t be making too many changes soon. All 6 sites predicted their whole team correctly this week.
Newcastle were also correctly predicted by all 6 sites while Leeds was predicted by 5 out of 6 with the only mistake being Whoscored not predicting Liam Cooper coming into defence.
Liverpool have a pretty settled line-up but no one was able to foresee Fabinho coming into central defence for Joe Gomez as each site predicted 10/11 correct players. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool stick with Fabinho in this position with Thiago Alcantara possibly starting often in central midfield.
Now all 20 sides have played at least one game i’m hoping to see someone next week hit the 90% success rate. Who will be the first to achieve this feat?
Come back next week to find out.
